Default The three month rainfall outlook looks very encouraging

The latest three month rainfall outlook released by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is encouraging for producers around Australia for contrasting reasons.

Facing severe drought conditions, following the driest year on record during 2010, the rainfall outlook for southern WA for February to April is largely positive, with a 65, 70% of exceeding median falls.

Similarly, the chance of above median rainfall is around 60, 75% for northern parts of NT and Queensland, suggesting monsoonal conditions will continue.

According to the BOM, the heavy rain and resulting record flooding that has inundated eastern Australia in recent months looks like easing, with the majority of Queensland, NSW and Victoria assigned only a 40, 50% chance of exceeding median falls.

After one of the wettest years on record during 2010, with further heavy falls in early January, some drier conditions would be welcomed by most producers across these regions, especially those who have been unable to muster and market stock due to the wet weather.
