Default KAGE Communication - 15 Jul 2013

Hello and welcome to KAGE COMMUNICATION!

First of all we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our wonderful supporters, as we not only reached but exceeded our end of financial year target for FORKLIFT. We are so grateful for your support and sincerely appreciate every single contribution. You are now a very real part of the creation of FORKLIFT. We have had some very exciting performance offers for FORKLIFT, so stay tuned during the upcoming months to hear more.

It's been a busy year so far, we're almost getting used to having three projects on the go at once! Luckily we're now all in the same city and country at the moment which makes things much easier. See below for updates on Sundowner, Forklift and Team of Life.

Sundowner Wrap Up We might possibly hold the record for the longest National tour by a dance company! KAGE's Sundowner recently finished a four month National tour. Since rehearsals resumed in February, Sundowner has been to all states and the Northern Territory visiting thirty-two venues in total. So many people were involved throughout the tour, (you know who you are!) and hearty thanks go out to you all. For sheer stamina, we have to give a special shout out to Helen Morse, Jackie Rees, Lillian Paranos, Mark Middleton and Jessica Ross who completed the entire tour without missing a show! We received lots of wonderful feedback from patrons. Pictured is Helen with one of our local stars.

Forklift post Finland The cast of Forklift recently returned from an exhilarating residency at CIRKO in Finland. Not only did they perform a highly successful showing to International presenters but they also managed to find time to swim in the Arctic Sea and eat reindeer! Following on from the residency, the cast continued to rehearse in Melbourne in a rather chilly industrial warehouse in Northcote. This show is going to be unlike anything anyone has seen before and, as we mentioned earlier, we are busy lining up future seasons and extensive touring.

Team of Life Development Showing Team of Life has also been keeping KAGE busy as we recently undertook a development at KAGE's home base at the Abbotsford Convent. We had two weeks filled with workshops and rehearsals leading up to a showing as part of the.

Centenary of Canberra Celebrations during NAIDOC week. The development showing began with an introduction to the concept by David Denborough - from the Dulwich Centre Foundation who KAGE is partnering with for the project. We also ran a workshop with some local dancers in Canberra before presenting a selection of scenes to an appreciative audience. Thanks to all those who attended, we hope you enjoyed this insight to our exciting project.
