Some of Gill Street's more interesting buildings and also a perfect example of the Classical style of Charters Towers.

Charters Towers has a large number of elegant and historically significant buildings most of which are located on Gill and Mosman Streets.

One of Gill Street's more interesting buildings is the Post Office of the year 1892, with a huge clock tower that dominates the town. The clock was added to the building in 1898 after being imported from England. Also in Gill Street is the former Bank of New South Wales of the year 1880, which is a near perfect example of the Classical Revival style of architecture which was all the rage at the time.

Charters Towers has a large livestock saleyard. Many cattle are bought and sold each week.

World Theatre was built in 1891. Originally the Australian Bank of Commerce. Its name comes from when Charters Towers was the second largest city in Queensland, and know as the "The World". The building was converted in 1996 into a 660 seat performing arts theatre, two cinemas, restaurant, gift shop and public arts gallery. The World Theatre can be found in Mosman street.
