Sitting near one of the lagoon pools at Airlie Beach last weekend, during a party at Panache restaurant, I was wear a suit and casually talking to security guard who was on a break. As we talked, we were approached by two English backpacker girls, one of whom asked me if they could go for a swim. Nobody else was in any of the pools, so they weren't sure if they were allowed to. "Sure," I said, "It's ok for you to have a swim. In you go." To that, one of them answered, "Oh, we don't have our bathers with us." For the uninitiated, British people call togs 'bathers'. I said, "Oh in that case, you'll have to go to that pool over there," indicating the next one over. "That's the nude bathing section," I added. Well, it's amazing how much influence you have when you wear a suit and a poker face, because they did exactly as I suggested. It was a scream.
