Northern rural producers will have access to the latest in products, information and technology at Queensland's newest field days, the Charters Towers, set for the Dalrymple Saleyards over the three days of September 10-12.

Charters Towers is the brainchild of Geoff Dein, of Ag-Grow Field Days held in Emerald.

Mr Dein said extensive market research had indicated that Charters Towers was an ideal location to base a North Queensland field day.

"The Charters Towers area is surrounded by primary producers, the very demographic that drives field days," Mr Dein said.

"There is already a very strong rural presence, and excellent saleyard facilities are complemented by accommodation to support the influx of exhibitors and visitors to the event.

"The local authority, the Charters Towers Regional Council, and in particular Mayor Ben Callcott, have been extremely cooperative with assistance and advice, and have warmly welcomed our first event.

"We are also delighted we have 200 sites available, with more than 100 booked so far, and there is a program of events over the three days, so it will be action packed for visitors."

Events include a prime cattle show and sale to be held on Friday, September 11, conducted by agency firm Queensland Rural.

The working dog trials, held over three days, will give northern competitors an opportunity to pitch their dogs against some of the best.

Other activities include the Carlton Truck, live music and a charity auction on the Friday night in aid of the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital.
