On Monday Sept 8th, if you hear a rumble in the air, it will be the arrival of 11 Helicopters on their way to Cape York via Sweers Island as part of a Helibiz Helicopter Safari. Charters Towers is our first fuel stop after departing from Airlie Beach. Its not every day you get a chance to see so many helicopters in one place. So when you hear the rumble, look up and wave or head down to the runway and catch a glimpse of our machines as we fill up and head off on our amazing adventure. As a point of interest: The 4 seater Robinson R44 Helicopter starts at around $360,000 AU, there will be quite a few of them on our Safari and also a couple of Eurocopters, which cost between $1 - $3 million each. The fuel the Robinsons run on is AVGAS and is only a little more expensive that unleaded car fuel. Each Robinson uses about 60 ltrs an hour and travel at 80-110 knots on average, with a top speed of 117knts.
